You could also go for wood shingles. Wood shingles and shakes have been one of the most popular choices amongst several homeowners in various types of homes. The traditional wood shingles are made of old growth trees which makes them quite vulnerable to the environment, especially if they are made for roofs. So make sure you use industrialized wood or use lamination extensively before doing anything else.
